In our meeting with the City in September, present were the City Manager,
Mr. Dave Wooden, City Attorney, Ms. Beth Ann Wilkening, Head of Code,
Mr. Russell Gray, Our Attorney, Mr. Cates, Calvin Garner, Kent Ashbrenner
and Grace Weber.
It was a very positive meeting. Mr Wooden, stated
that he had seen great improvement from our Park, however, there were
still a lot of areas that were continuing to be neglectful as to cleaning
up their properties. Our attorney, Mr. Cates, stated that we
had gone as far as we could legally go in our afforts to ask residents
to cleanup on the behalf of all the Park. He further stated
that we did not know how to continue these efforts within legal bounds
by the HOA.
Ms. Wilkening then stated, "Why don't we, the City along
with the code department take that task at hand this time, and see
if we can get the attention of those that will not comply".
Mr. Wooden was happy with this idea because he felt that if we did
not continue to show improvements and keep our HOA strong and viable
for the whole Park, that we would fail in removing the Blight.
We know
that some in the Park believe that the HOA was completely responsible
for this action however, this was done at the City's request.
They believe that we must continue to show improvements as Mr. Wootdn
stated.
Ms. Wilkening stated having an older home but the overall property
being tidy would not be held against them.
Then in December we
had another meeting with the City. Another positive meeting.
In this meeting we were told that we could very well possible expect
help in the public works area from the City and Mr. Wooden told Mr.
Ashbrenner that the City will only receive $500,000.00 this year in
CBG Grants but that Camino Villa will get some of that. We do
not know how much at this point because that amount is for all of
Broken Arrow.
Then in that same meeting, Ms. Wilkening stated that
if we were to freeze Camino Villa as it is now with all our efforts
in the last two years and continue to show improvement and have our
HOA strong that we could have great expectations of having the Blight
removed possible in May.
They will not guarantee this at this moment
because they have to continue to see improvements from us.
But we feel that if we can continue our efforts this will happen.
We
must all continue to look forward with a positive attitude of working
together for a better community. That has always been the efforts
of the Board and our only goal was to achieve the security of you
as residents staying in your home and making our community a good
place for people to live. The City has also stated that they
will research and help us in a public relations manner of letting
people know that we have space for new homes for people to move to.
The Board of Camino Villa wishes all the residence a very Merry Christmas.
Please
come to our dinner / Meeting on January 4th at 6:00 PM for further
information and updates, positive ideas from the members and a good
dinner for all to enjoy.
